Steve Hyman

Steve obtained his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Liverpool John Moores University, England and after a period working in the court system, served as a police officer in London for ten years. Having worked closely with disadvantaged children and after working within a Child Protection Unit, he decided that he wanted to move into a career in teaching. He believed that he would be able to bring more positivity to children’s lives and provide better opportunities for them through teaching. Steve completed his TEFL certificate in Koh Samui and upon completion was employed at Panyadee International School and later taught in China where he obtained an International Baccalaureate qualification. Steve joined LIS in September 2019 and is currently studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. “I am very excited about this year at LIS and can’t wait to get into the classroom. I want the children to achieve not just academically, but socially and emotionally. I like to foster an environment where the children feel part of a group and central to their education. I want to involve them in decision making in relation to their learning, so that they invest in their studies, develop self-motivation in relation to their work and recognize their responsibility for their achievements.”
